Horizon Engineering: Safety Program
Safety is a top priority for Horizon Engineering and we have a comprehensive health and safety program. The program includes site-specific safety plans as needed, tailgate meetings or pre-test safety meetings, use of personal protection equipment, job hazard analysis when necessary, routine audits of on-going test work, lab, and shop activities, and training in safety awareness and procedures. All field personnel are aerial platform (man-lift) certified, 1st Aid and CPR trained, and have annual C Stop training. Some Horizon project managers and test-team leaders are 40-hour HAZWOPER trained. Horizon participates in three separate contractor pre-qualification and safety management programs: ISNetworld, PICS, and BROWZ.
ISNetworld is a global resource for connecting corporations with safe, reliable vendors from capital-intensive industries. ISN collects self-reported conformance information from vendors, verifies its accuracy, and then reports the results in an easy-to-follow format. This allows corporations to select those resources that best meet their safety requirements, while providing vendors and suppliers the opportunity to centralize their conformance information, saving time and gaining presence in the marketplace. More information can be found on their website:

PICS provide services to standardize and centralize the contractor qualification process for their consortium members, lessen the administrative burden on contractors, and minimize the safety incidents for the contractors and operators. More information can be found on their website:

BROWZ is an independent third party founded on the principles of ISO certification and compliance. The BROWZ Supply Chain Verification Service evaluates evaluate insurance, safety performance, security and other risk criteria to measure contractor performance. Our field staff holds Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) cards which ensure that individuals who pose a threat do not gain unescorted access to secure areas of the nation's maritime transportation system. To obtain a TWIC card each individual must provide biographic and biometric information such as fingerprints, sit for a digital photograph, and successfully pass a security threat assessment conducted by TSA. Our staff also participates in the DISA, Inc. drug and alcohol screening program. Our field staff is subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. More information can be found on their website:
